Difference Between PLC/DCS

A question come in to mind that what is the difference between PLC and DCS ???
To answer this question we not go into more detail but just try to solve these to abbrevation
PLC Programable logic control
DCS Distributed Control system
so its mean a DCS controll almost different distributed I/O through Device net and ProfiBus

mr usman , i work in a project using FPGA kit for data acquisition . we can make the kit communicate with the PC but we want it also communicate with micro PLC schneider . we can design the protocole if we know it but the problem is we don't have information of how the protocole work or communicate . so if u can help me send me an e-mail please
